Minnesota Paramedic Scholarship
Minnesota needs more paramedics, and you can become one of them. The Minnesota Paramedic Scholarship program is here to support your education and move your career forward.
Passed during the 2023 Minnesota Legislative session to increase the number of licensed paramedics in Minnesota. This temporary scholarship program for Minnesota residents completing a paramedic diploma or degree received a one-time appropriation for $3 million, to provide up to 600 scholarships of $5,000 each starting Fall 2024, to be awarded by June 30, 2026.
Eligible students are Minnesota residents attending an eligible paramedic program. Students must be taking paramedic program courses to receive the scholarship.

All eligible programs require students to be a current Emergency Medical Technical (EMT) license holder before starting the program. Each institution has individual prerequisite requirements. Students should review the individual program requirements for necessary steps to enroll.
Students can receive annual awards of $5,000 ($2,500 per academic term) and can receive the award twice.
Scholarship funds will be sent out starting Fall 2024. All funds will be sent to institutions to be applied to the student's account.
Applications will be reviewed in order of date submitted with confirmation of enrollment from the institutions.
Student award notices (financial aid offers) will be sent from the Minnesota Office of Education.
No, but all of the institutions with eligible programs offer EMT programs that can be completed before the start of their paramedic programs.
Complete the 2024-2025 application if you are applying for the first time and will be starting your paramedic program in Spring 2025 or Summer 2025.
Complete the 2025-2026 application if you are starting your paramedic program in Fall 2025, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026.
After your first award has been approved, if you have not been reported as graduated or no longer attending by your college, you will be sent a renewal application to the email you used when you first applied for the scholarship.
