The Aspiring Teachers of Color Scholarship Pilot Program is designed to provide postsecondary financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate students who are preparing to become teachers, have demonstrated financial need, and belong to racial or ethnic groups underrepresented in the Minnesota teacher workforce.
Although funding for the initial pilot ended with Fiscal Year 2024, the legislature made a second one-time appropriation during the 2024 legislative session allowing the program to be administered for the 2024-2025 award year.
In Fiscal Year 2024, OHE received 236 complete applications and were able to award 180 students across 22 institutions.
